Ty Louisette has everything you could wish for as a home away from home. The Gite is located in a quiet rural hamlet but is a short drive from Pontivy with all the amenities a large town has to offer. The Gite itself is less than a minutes walk from the Nantes-Brest canal with its towpaths to explore and fishing permits are available. It's possible to cycle along the canal from the Gite directly into the centre of Pontivy.

Inside you will find the light and airy kitchen has all mod-cons and is beautifully furnished with seating for 8 around a long oak table. It has direct access to the front breakfast terrace and rear garden deck. You will have the use of a large fan oven and ceramic hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and coffee machine. Catch up on French culture with the wall-mounted flatscreen digital TV or listen to music on the CD player and Radio with iPod and USB ports. The living room is cosy with ample seating, wood burning stove, the option of subdued lighting, flat-screen digital TV with British freeview satelite channels and French digital terrestrial choices or watch a movie on the DVD player. The master bedroom with double bed has a private en-suite shower room/WC. The main bathroom has a large wetroom style shower and full bath with shower attachment. A separate WC is adjacent. The second and third bedrooms feature two single beds each. The fourth bedroom has a single bed.

Ty Louisette has a large private rear garden with raised wooden deck and adjacent BBQ. At the front, straight out from the kitchen there is a large and sunny breakfast terrace, complete with hanging wisteria and clematis plants, under which you can enjoy a peaceful start to your day. There are aluminium cafe-style tables and seats for eight allowing you to change exterior seating arrangements at leisure.

All rooms are on one level and the gite is adapted for wheelchair access. Ramps front and back allow access to the gite, breakfast terrace and rear deck. Main bathroom and separate wc are designed with wheelchair in mind. The shower is flush with floor level and has no tray allowing for chair access. Shower stool and support handles are provided. The separate WC has turning space, raised WC, lowered sink and mirror.

Saint Gérand village is 2km away and has a general store and bakery. Pontivy is 6km away. The town is part Napoleonic and part medieval and boasts a magnificent 15th Century castle. In Pontivy you will find two large supermarkets, a variety of local and interesting boutique shops, bowling alley, cinema and numerous restaurants, cafes and bars. There is a large swimming pool in Loudeac, approximately 20 minutes drive from the Gite. Vannes with it's walled medieval heart, shops and picturesque old port is one hour away. Auray's beautiful harbour with restaurants is 50 mins drive. Rennes can be reached in 1 hour. Lorient with wartime submarine pens is 1 hour away. The well attended Interceltique festival takes place here each summer. There are popular lakeside beaches at Lac de Guerledan with canoeing, cafés and restaurant are 25 minutes drive to the north. The fine sandy beaches of Brittany's south coast are 45 minutes drive away and the more rugged north coast is approximately an hour and a quarter's drive. The nearest golf course (9 holes) is at Rimaison, approximately 15km from the gite.

Once you have booked a stay, the booking will be held for one week and is confirmed upon receipt of 30% deposit. The full balance is payable 8 weeks before arrival. Prices are quoted in euros and we accept bookings by credit or debit card (via PayPal). Sterling cheques can be accepted subject to a 20 euros surcharge. Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday. The gite must be vacated by 10.00am and new arrivals are welcome after 3.00pm. Full bedding and bath towels are provided. These can be changed after 1 week if required for an additional charge of 7.50 euros per person. Please bring your own beach towels. Please note that Ty Louisette is a non-smoking gite. We kindly request that you do not bring pets.

Rennes airport is 1hr 20mins drive. Dinard is 1hr 30mins. Brest 1hr 45mins. Saint Malo ferry port is 1hr 40mins away and Roscoff 2hrs. Cherbourg is 3hrs 30mins and Calais 6hrs.

DIRECTIONS - Approaching from the north west, (Roscoff)
Head south past St Pol de Léon towards Morlaix. Turn right onto the N12, signed for Brest. After 2.5km turn left towards the south, Pleyber-Christ on the D785. After 11km take the left turn onto the D764 towards Huelgoat and Carhaix Plouguer. As you approach Carhaix Plouguer, follow signs for Rostrenen on the N164. Stay on this road for 80km then turn south onto the D767 for Mûr de Bretagne and Pontivy.

As you approach Pontivy you will cross the canal (be aware that vehicles crossing the flow of traffic here have right of way). Follow the road down to the roundabout where you turn left. D768 towards Loudéac. At the mini roundabout take the left fork and continue to the next large roundabout where you go straight across, second exit.

After 2.5km turn left at the silos of Groupe Glon, Sanders. Follow this road for 2km, crossing the Nantes Brest Canal. You will see the Base Saint Gérand, Les Mousquetaires on the right. Turn right immediately after this building, signed for Kergouët. Follow the road and you will cross the level crossing, Ty Louisette is then the first house on the left.

DIRECTIONS - Approaching from the north east, (Saint Malo, Dinard)
Head south passing Dinan, Caulnes and St. Méen le Grand where you turn west for Loudeac on the N164. From Loudeac, take the D700 south west towards Pontivy. After 14km, take the exit for Saint Gérand. Follow the road up the rise towards the village, turning right at the mini roundabout by the stone cross.

Follow the road around the church turning left to go up the hill past the shop and the two schools. At the slightly staggered crossroads go straight across and follow this road until you cross the canal.

Follow the road around the right hand bend and turn left before the level crossing. Follow this road until you arrive at a sharp right hand bend. Ty Louisette is the last house on the right before the next level crossing.
